Start with two questions
This page is a routing point for customer stakeholders. It does not assume that Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or Sekurzen Guard is the right answer before your environment and protection outcome are understood.
Question 1: Which collaboration environment are you protecting?
Microsoft 365
Continue with the Microsoft 365 protection model and the M365 DLP policy guide. These cover Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Purview controls, licensing checks, and operating practice.
Google Workspace
Continue with the Google Workspace protection model. It introduces the Google-specific locations and policy decisions without importing Microsoft-specific assumptions.
Both platforms, or a mixed environment
Read both platform guides, then compare their operating guidance to define common data types, policy outcomes, evidence, ownership, and review cadence. Use the Microsoft 365 operating guide and Google Workspace operating guide, and confirm each platform's actual workload coverage separately.
I am not sure
Start with the DLP fundamentals. Continue through data classification, leakage paths, and layered controls before you choose a platform implementation.
Question 2: What outcome are you evaluating?
Use controls already included in the platform
Begin with the relevant native platform guide. Check your current subscription, supported locations, policy actions, administrative roles, and operating effort before assuming that an upgrade is required.
Add Sekurzen Guard alongside existing platform licenses
Read Sekurzen Guard: a focused DLP option. Treat Sekurzen Guard as an additional control to evaluate against your defined data, workloads, actions, evidence, and service expectations.
Compare native controls with Sekurzen Guard
Read the Sekurzen Guard guide and complete its three-year comparison method. Compare equivalent users, workloads, policy outcomes, support, implementation, administration, and evaluation period.
I need advanced enterprise protection
Review the platform's advanced capabilities, such as persistent labeling, encryption, endpoint DLP, insider-risk context, records management, eDiscovery, or broader security operations. A focused DLP requirement may not need all of these, but a broader programme may.
Keep the decision record explainable
Whatever path you choose, record:
- platform and workloads in scope
- data types and detection confidence required
- actions such as audit, warn, allow with justification, block, or quarantine
- evidence and investigation requirements
- existing licenses and incremental cost
- implementation, administration, support, and user-impact assumptions
- pilot evidence, residual risk, accountable owner, and review date
The next article explains how to evaluate Sekurzen Guard as a focused option alongside existing platform controls.
